I have recently finished my PhD project at the Institute of Biogeochemistry and Pollutant Dynamics (IBP) in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag).

I studied environmental sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETHZ), specializing in environmental chemistry and terrestrial systems. My diploma thesis "Effect of siderophores on light-induced dissolution of colloidal iron(III)(hydr)oxides" was the starting point of my PhD project. From January 2004 until December 2008, I have been working in the research group of Stephan Kraemer (now at the Department of Environmental Geosciences, University of Vienna, Austria) and Ruben Kretzschmar (Soil chemistry, IBP) in collaboration with Barbara Sulzberger and Stephan Hug (EAWAG) .
